License Overview
License
A license is an agreement made by and between a supplier and a customer on the scope of usage, functions, and time restrictions of the product that has been purchased. The customer can obtain the services promised by the supplier after obtaining the license.
The customer can flexibly choose network features and capacity that apply to specific phases, protecting the investment to the maximum extent.
A license can be a license certificate or a license file.
License Files
A license file is an authorization file used to control product capacity and functions. The file is generated by a dedicated tool according to private key requirements and contract information, and is delivered in an electronic form. A license file contains information about ESNs, resource control items, function control items, and sales items.
After obtaining a license file, you need to manually load it to the NMS to use the functions authorized by the license.
Applying For a License File
Engineers need to apply for and download a license file on the ESDP based on the contract and provide it for the customer.

Prerequisites
Before applying for a license certificate, Huawei engineers need to obtain the following information:
1. Sales contract number: When you apply for a license file on the ESDP, you can search for all authorized licenses of a project by contract No., entitlement ID, or BOQ.
2. ESN of the NMS server: To activate a license on the ESDP, you must bind the ESN of the NMS server to the license.
Procedure
1. Log in to the ESDP (http://app.huawei.com/isdp/) and choose License Activation > Entitlement Activation
2. Enter Huawei contract No., entitlement ID, or BOQ, and then click Search & Refresh to search for entitlement records.
3. Select the required entitlements in the search result.
4. Click Next and enter the ESDN to be bound.
5. Click Next, confirm the activation information, and click Confirm and Activate License.
6. Download the activated license file.
Note:
The two servers of a high availability system use the same license file, which needs to be bound to the ESNs of both servers. Therefore, you must obtain the ESNs of both servers and activate them in the license file at the same time.
