How to activate Samba in HG8245X6 WiFi6 Modem?

I've got a new modem router for WiFi6 but I cannot use Samba Share.

I use it for sharing media from my PC by AppleTV apps to my TV.  My old modem had an option for activate or deactivate Samba. But I cannot find an option in HG8245X6


How can I activate Samba in HG8245X6 WiFi6 Modem?

How do I enable and disable the Samba service on the SUSE Linux operating system?

You must stop the Samba service after software uploading.

Answer

  • Enable the Samba service.

  1. In the Samba Installation: Step 1 of 2 window that is displayed, click Next.

  2. In the Samba Installation: Step 2 of 2 window that is displayed, select Not a Domain Controller and click Next.

  1. Log in to the Linux server as the root user.

  2. Run the following command on the command terminal.

    # yast2

  3. Select Network Services > Samba Server.

  4. If the Samba has not been installed, install it as prompted.

  5. In the Samba Configuration window, select During Boot.

  6. Click the Shares tab and click Add.

  7. In the New Share window, set Share Name to opt, Share Path to /opt, and click OK.

  8. On the Shares tab, you can find that the service has been added to Available Share. Click OK.

  9. On the command terminal, run the following command to complete user settings for the Samba service.

    # smbpasswd -a root New SMB password: Enter the new password for the Samba service.  Retype new SMB password: Enter the new password for the Samba service again.  Added user root

Disabling the Samba service.

  1. Log in to the Linux operating system as the root user.

  2. Run the following command on the command terminal to display the YaST Control Center page.

    # yast2

  3. Select Network Services > Samba Server.

  4. In the Samba Configuration window, click the Start-Uptab, select Manually, and click OK.

Based on the screenshots you provided, this does not appear to be the same manufacturer's device.

Chenxintao, yes, it was not Huawei. But that modem had a very simple way of permitting Samba Share. But I could not find a easy way in this modem which allows SMB Share.
After chane the modem, now I cannot find shared folders in my PC through network. I thought there had be a way, because SMB Share is a very common used feature.

Hi, Chenxintao; my Huawai modem is "OptiXstar HG8245X6 GPON Terminal" Hardware version: 1E8E.A, software version: V5R020C00S080
I used to stream video or pictures which are in my PC in to another room and watch them on TV by infuse app in AppleTV 4. Yes, I need to share media through SMB share. (I also had used SMB share by my WD Live TV, before I bought AppleTV, and there was another 3.rd modem at that time, and it had allowed too without any adjustment)
