How to access HG8240H5 ?

Hello User.. in fact you don't need to do something extra if your laptop is getting the IP address from the ONT you just to type in the gateway IP address to access the ONT. Most of the cases are 192.168.1.254.

Also from your picture, it is missing the gateway IP address, set it and you will have access.

The procedure is as follows:

1. Use a network cable to connect the LAN port of the ONT to a PC.

2. Ensure that the Internet Explorer (IE) of the PC does not use the proxy server. The following section considers IE 8.0 as an example to describe how to check whether the IE uses the proxy server.

a. Start the IE, and choose Tools > Internet Options from the main menu of the IE window. Then, the Internet Options interface is displayed.

b. In the Internet Options interface, click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.

c. In the Proxy server area, ensure that the Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections). check box is not selected (that is, without the "√" sign). If the check box is selected, deselect it, and then click OK.

3. Set the IP address and subnet mask of the PC.

a. ONT Default settings:

IP address: 192.168.100.1

Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

b. Configure the IP address of the PC to be in the same subnet as the LAN IP address of the ONT.

For example:

IP address: 192.168.100.100

Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

4. Log in to the Web configuration interface.

a. Enter http://192.168.100.1 in the address bar of IE (192.168.100.1 is the default IP address of the ONT), and then press Enter to display the login interface.

b. In the login interface, enter the user name and password.  After the password authentication is passed, the Web configuration interface is displayed.

Common user (terminal user):

User name: root

Password: adminHW

For an administrator account and password, contact the ISP.

I connected my PC to ONT and I made sure that the PC is not using proxy server.
I tried both solutions suggested @Chenxintao and @Gustavo.HdezF as shown the screenshots below but both methods did not work.

I can connect to routers easly. But I cloud not connect the ONT.

Please advise.

You can try to ping 192.169.100.1 first. 

What I mentioned above is the default settings and access Web guidance for the HG8240H5.

If the web page still cannot be accessed, the possible causes are as follows:

1. This product is customized for the ISP. Contact the ISP for a solution.

2. Hardware defect of the ONT.
