How long does it take for an H.248 interface to switch to the secondary MGC when the primary MGC is unreachable?
After the MG interface is registered successfully, the MG exchange heartbeat messages with the MGC to monitor connectivity. If the MG does not receive the heartbeat response from the MGC after the number of heartbeat messages reaches the configured value, the MG considers that the link is faulty. In this case, the MG switches to the secondary MGC.
The default heartbeat detection period on an MG interface is 3 heartbeat intervals, and the default heartbeat interval is the 60s. Therefore, it takes 4 minutes (including the switchover time) for an H.248 interface to switch to the secondary MGC. During this period, the ongoing media streams are not affected.
