Hello everyone!

I'd like to consult a question.

I often see various publicity materials saying that 100G 200G non-regeneration transmission 1000KM / 2000KM / 3000KM, 200G non-regeneration transmission support transmission XXXXKM, but in the actual use of the existing network, it is often one or two hundred kilometers may start to power Followed. What kind of scenario does the transmission of XXXXKM in the material mean? What is the condition of the fiber optic cable? How many OLA sites are there in the middle?

Thank you!

Dear user!

The promotion material does not contain regeneration boards, which means that OA sites can have no electrical regeneration boards. For example, a 100G transmission network can transmit data of 26 spans, about 2000 km.

However, we find in actual use or evaluation that 100G/200G transmission distance is usually 300 km without electrical regeneration. How can 100G/200G transmission distance be 1000 km without electrical regeneration? After all, we all know that as the number of OA sites increases, the OSNR deteriorates and the dispersion increases accordingly.

100G QPSK without electrical regeneration supports 26 spans. If each span is 22 dB (about 80 km), 100G QPSK signals can be transmitted over 1000 km. During live-network deployment, factors such as optical cable attenuation, quality, and non-linearity may affect the maximum transmission distance.
