Hi, can anyone advise how gpon isolate the client devices which are under same vlan? The traffic between the client devices in same vlan will pass through the upstream core switch or just go through OLT only ( won't go through OLT uplink)? please advise, thanks in advance.

hi, if you Configuring VLAN-based Layer 2 User Bridging on OLT side , then device A can ping device B in same OLT, otherwise will be thought core switch

I think that different customer devices in the same VLAN can be isolated through GPON. This mode is rare. If the isolation is successful, the data must be bypassed to the OLT and go to the upstream switch.

Thanks for your reply. but I don't understand the word "bypass", is it meant the traffic won't pass through the OLT and core switch?
we consider two scenarios:
1. two client devices are under same ont and within same vlan
2. two client devices are under different ont ,but in the same vlan

If ping device B from device A, will the ping packet pass through the OLT and upstream core switch? please advise, thanks.

I have similar issue/question.

OLT MA5800 with smart VLAN and GPON customers, service-port configuration. As per documentation, a smart VLAN can contain multiple upstream ports and service ports. The service ports in a same smart VLAN are isolated from each other. The service ports of different VLANs are isolated from each other. One VLAN supports multiple users, which saves the VLAN resources.

eg.

# service-port 183 vlan 2101 gpon 0/1/2 ont 12 gemport 1 multi-service user-vlan 300 tag-transform translate inbound traffic-table index 100 outbound traffic-table index 102

My issue is statement that service ports in a same smart VLAN are isolated from each other and maybe because of this I cannot communcate between clients within the same ONT.

How to unisolate them? I want be able to communicate with other clients under the same OLT/vlan.

Thank you in advance.
