How do you think the INTERNET comes through Continents
- Internet is the soul of modern life , going through the veins of this planet, giving it the vibrant life .
So how can Internet come from far continents to our countries ,cities ?
The Answer is Submarine Transmission using Optical Fiber .
Legacy transmission
- The previous transmission was using satellite communication station , the shortcomes of this technology was too much . It was highly prone to attenuation , The bandwidth is small and the leasing fee is very high.
The revolution of submarine optical fiber
- In the 1980s, fibre-optic cables were developed. The first transatlantic telephone cable to use optical fibre was TAT-8, which went into operation in 1988. A fibre-optic cable comprises multiple pairs of fibres. Each pair has one fibre in each direction. TAT-8 had two operational pairs and one backup pair.
- The optical cable is laid or buried down the ocean , In the water area shallower than the depth of 1,000 meters, cables are buried under the seabed using blasting waterjet

- The Transmission equipment send optical signal that may travers thousands of kilometers and surely gets attenuation along the way , so we need repeaters that can boost the signal forward , here we faced another problem related of electricity power feeding for the undersea repeaters .
-The solution was the (PFE power feeding equipment ) this giant power feeding can generate from 3000V up to 15000V and send it with the optical cable down the sea to feed repeaters with needed power.
- Have a fast internet and surf safely with optical fiber
