Q: How do I switch the announcement language?

A: You can switch the announcement language using either of the following methods:

1.     The SD card delivered with an SCUB board contains the default announcements in 12 languages. On the U1911/U1960/U1981 with an SCUB board, you can run a command to switch the announcement language.

2.     In other scenarios, you can load a voice package to switch the announcement language.

How to Change the Announcement Language

On the U1900 series unified gateway, system announcements are saved in voice.zip (mrsvoice.zip for the U1980) of the version software. Voice playback channels are 0 to 244. By default, announcements are played in Chinese (Mandarin). The system provides preset announcements in 12 common languages, such as English, French, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Italian, and Arabic.

If the voice packages provided in the version software meet the site requirements, you can switch the announcement language using either of the following methods:

[Method 1: Run a command to switch to a preset language.]

The SD card delivered with an SCUB board contains the default announcements in 12 languages. On the U1911/U1960/U1981 with an SCUB board, you can directly switch the announcement language. The system extracts the voice package for the target language from the SD card, overwrites the original voice package in the version software, and synchronizes the voice package to all MTU boards.

Step 1          Log in to a U1900 series unified gateway using the CLI and access the Config mode.

Step 2          Run the show current sysvoice command to query the current language of default announcements.

Step 3          Run the config modify sysvoice country <arabic | chinese | dutch | american | british | french | portugeuse_brazilian | portugeuse_european | russian | spanish_latin | spanish_european | italian> command to switch the announcement language to a preset language.

note

Voice package synchronization between boards takes about 1 minute. To avoid impact on device performance, do not frequently switch the language of default announcements.

Step 4          Use an intra-office phone to dial *125 and verify that the announcement language has changed.

----End

[Method 2: Load a voice package.]

In the following scenarios, you need to load a voice package to switch the announcement language:

l   U1980

l   U1911/U1960/U1981 without an SD card

The following assumes that you need to switch the announcement language to Arabic on the U1960. The procedure is as follows:

Step 1          Obtain the voice package.

Visit Huawei enterprise technical support website. Enter eSpace U19xx in the search box, select the path displayed below the search box and enter the product page. On the eSpace U19xx page that is displayed, click Downloads and obtain the software of the required version on the Downloads tab page. For example, download the 01 eSpace U1960.zip package. Decompress the package and obtain the voice package from the voice directory.

Step 2          Manually rename the voice package.

Change the name of the Arabic voice package voice_arabic.zip to voice.zip.

note

The voice package name of the U1911/U1960/U1981 is voice.zip, and the voice package name of the U1980 is mrsvoice.zip.

Step 3          Load the voice package.

1.    Log in to the device using the LMT. Choose Version > Voice File.

2.    In the Load voice file area, click Browse, select voice.zip or mrsvoice.zip, and click OK.

3.    Select the desired device and click Load.

If Execution Status is Loading succeeded, the loading is completed.

Step 4          Use an intra-office phone to dial *125 and verify that the announcement language has changed.

----End

If the 12 voice packages provided in the version software do not meet the site requirements, you need to customize system announcement in the required language, use the LMT to prepare the voice.zip or mrsvoice.zip package, and load the voice package. For details, see section "Voice File Localization" in the eSpace U1900 Product Documentation at: http://support.huawei.com/hedex/hdx.do?docid=EDOC1000073292&lang=en&idPath=7881490|21781198|21781768|21781990|19949912
