On a Fibre Channel switch network, the NPIV function must be enabled on Fibre Channel switches. How do I query and configure the NPIV function of switches?
Brocade FC series (NPIV function is enabled by default):
Run portcfgshow to query configurations of the NPIV function. View configuration information about the NPIV capability field and ensure that the status of the port connecting to the storage system is ON.
Run the following commands in sequence to configure the NPIV function:
portcfgnpivport --enable [slot/]port
portcfgnpivport --setloginlimit [slot/]port login_limit
Cisco switches:
Run show npiv status to query configurations of the NPIV function.
Run the following commands in sequence to configure the NPIV function:
config t
feature npiv
The NPIV function of QLogic switches, as well as Huawei SNS2120 and SNS5120 switches, is enabled by default, and could not be disabled.
