How Do I Let My Huawei HG8245H Know that Two of the Connected Devices are APs

HiCoins as reward: 0 (problem unresolved)

Hello, everyone.

So the connection in my house with just HG8245H was bad so I installed 2 access points. I wanted to set up roaming between all 3 devices and roaming seems to work in between APs but doesn't with the HG8245H router. After delving into its settings I found WiFi coverage settings aka roaming settings but my APs aren't listed in the "external AP list" so I can't really activate this function. How do I fix this issue?

Thanks.

Hello,

Your device is connected through Wi-Fi, you can view the information about the STA.

In the navigation tree on the left, choose System Information > WLAN Information. Then, in the pane on the right, you can query the information such as Wi-Fi port status, Wi-Fi packet statistics, and SSID, as shown in Figure 6-11.

I hope I can help you.

Thank you!

Hi friend hope below can help:

The configuration roadmap is as follows:

1. Configure the AP and upper-layer devices to communicate at Layer 2.
2. Configure Router as a DHCP server to assign IP addresses to STAs from an IP address pool on an interface.
3. Configure the AP's system parameters, including the country code.
4. Configure a VAP so that STAs can access the WLAN.

NOTE:
You are advised to log in to the Fat AP in wireless mode for service configuration. You can also log in to the Fat AP by directly connecting a PC to the Fat AP using network cables and then connect the Fat AP to the upstream device after services are configured and saved.

I have the same situation but my extra/external AP is connected through wire. I wonder how I can let my Huawei router know, that this external AP is part of the home network. Else, the configuration seems correct and all is running as required.

I am talking about the setup as described here: https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/de/doc/EDOC1100009120/f854daa6/home-network-information

How can I add an external AP, how can an external AP be discovered?

My external AP is seen by the router as an attached wired device. At the same time it(s SSID) can by found by the router when searching for neighbour APs in the 'WLAN Information' section.
