How Do I Filter ECSs by Tag? [Demo Download]

Hello, everyone!

When customers use the cloud platform to provision resources, they want to know resource usage, for example, in which service system resources are used. In other words, both the investment and O&M departments want to know what services the provisioned resources are used and how the resources are used to ensure reasonable resource use.

A tag identifies the category or content of the desired resource for the easy query. You can define different tags and as-sociate resources (such as ECSs) with tags to classify resources so that you can easily filter and view resources during O&M monitoring and report statistics collection.

When using the cloud platform to provision resources, the customer of company A wants to know where the resources are used for example, which service system. That is, both the planning and investment department and the O&M department want to know the service for which the provisioned resources are intended and the resource usage to ensure that the resources can be properly used.

Based on the preceding problems, the service and O&M team of company A proposes that the resource usage be clarified during resource provisioning and tags be associated with resources so that they can flexibly filter resources and quickly obtain valid data during O&M to improve O&M efficiency.

The tag management and visualized O&M are used.

In this trial, the VDC administrator or O&M personnel of carrier B in country A who is in charge of the BASS system (a service system) classify tags to quickly identify ECSs that are used in the BASS system and learn about the ECS resource usage in the system.

1. Create a tag on ManageOne Operation Portal.

You can create tags and associate them with ECSs to facilitate resource management and resource identification by category. A tag name must be unique to the tenant to which the VDC belongs. An upper-level VDC administrator cannot view tags created by lower-level VDC administrators, but a lower-level VDC administrator can view and use tags created by upper-level VDC administrators.

2. Creating an ECS and Associating it with a tag.

After tags are created, you need to associate the tags with resources during resource creation. The following describes how to create business-ecs-0001 and associate it with a tag. Other ECSs have been preconfigured for a better user experience.

3. Filtering report data.

Add the Bussiness-System tag dimension to the ECS Performance Analysis data set, associate ECSs in the data set with Business-System, and filter report data in the multidimensional analysis report by Service System to collect statistics on and analyzes the ECSs that are used in the BASS system to learn about the ECS resource usage in the system.

That's all, thanks!
