How Do I Do If Certain VMs Running on Windows 2003 64-Bit OS Fail to Upgrade?

In non-silent upgrade mode, upgrading the PV Driver on Windows 2003 64-bit VM fails and the message "Please retry stay a while!" is displayed. However, it is found that the PV Driver package is already mounted to CD-ROM as shown in Figure 7-6.

In silent upgrade mode, for example, in the upgrade of SingleCLOUD V100R002C01SPC100 to SingleCLOUD V100R002C01SPC200, when upgrading the PV driver, the system displays "mountiso-fail", as shown in Figure 7-7, and the PV driver cannot be upgraded to the target version.

Details about the upgrade results displayed in Figure 7-7 are as follows:

l   ready-upgrade: The PV driver is pushed to the VM successfully. It will be upgraded to the target version after the VM is restarted.

l   mountiso-fail: The PV driver failed to be pushed to the VM, and the possible cause is the residual CD-ROM information.

l   1.1.5.32: indicates the target version of the PV driver.

The CD-ROM information that does not exist still appears in the registry, so the CD-ROM disk drive is not found when it is being searched in the register during upgrade. You need to choose Start > Run and enter regedit to go to the Register Editor and check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices. See Figure 7-8.

To delete the non-existent CD-ROM information, perform the following steps:

Step 1     View the CD-ROM information in the registry.

Step 2     Check the CD-ROM disk drive. Only one CD-ROM can be configured in the VM.

Step 3     Find out the CD-ROM with consistent information yet inconsistent disk drive and delete it. As shown in Figure 7-8. there is only one real CD-ROM with disk drive D but there is a non-existent disk drive E in the registry which should be deleted manually.
