To prevent a loop or traffic forwarding failure caused by a MAC address conflict between a WAN interface and another interface, you can change the MAC address of the WAN interface.

Differences Between System and Interface MAC Addresses
System MAC address: is the MAC address of the router.
- Interface MAC address: is the MAC address of a Layer 2 or Layer 3 Ethernet interface.
A Layer 3 interface has a MAC address that can be directly changed.
All Layer 2 interfaces on the router use the system MAC address as their MAC addresses. To change the MAC address of a Layer 2 interface, you can only change the system MAC address.
Changing the System MAC Address
Run the set system-mac command in the diagnostic view to change the system MAC address.
Change the default system MAC address.

Change the current system MAC address.
