The SFP optical transceiver is pluggable. When routing upstream optical fibers, the SFP optical transceiver is inserted into the upstream optical port before optical fibers are connected. An upstream optical port using the SFP transceiver is shown in Figure 1.

The SFF optical transceiver is not pluggable. When routing upstream optical fibers, fibers are directly connected to the upstream optical port. An upstream optical port using the SFF transceiver is shown in Figure 2.
