The 16 KB LUN is a command device of the storage system. The command device is automatically scanned by the host and mapped to the storage system, use for communication between the application server and the storage system.
After the automatic host scanning function is enabled on the storage system, the command device is discovered on the application server. This command is required when the automatic host scanning function is required.
After the inband command of the storage mapping is enabled, the command device is discovered on the application server. Before configuring a replication policy for value-added services (such as periodic snapshot, LUN copy, and remote replication) on an application server, you need to add the command device. In this scenario, do not shut down the command device.
So if you are not using the value-added services, you can disable the function as below:
