Greetings,

I have this issue that my ONT HG8247H is not stabilizing its PON light, while the optical statistics are within a good range.

Kindly notice that I am testing to connect my Device HG8247H with an EPON network, as I have shifted into a new city and the network here is based on EPON.

I am assuming that my ONT HG8247H has both GPON and EPON installed in it by default, therefore I am expecting it to work. but unfortunately, it's not moving beyond Stage 2.

Is there any such XPON firmware for this device? so that It can operate on both GPON and EPON. kindly help me resolve this issue.

I will be thankful.

Hello, my friend!

About the problem you described,

I don't think your hypothesis exists.

The ONT cannot be compatible with EPON and GPON at the same time.

The compatibility cannot be changed through the xPON firmware because the optical modules on the OLT are different.

If you need to convert GPON to EPON, you need to replace the device.

Hope to help you, thank you!

i have seen in market, people have converted simple Epon device into Gpon/Epon ( means xpon), i have also seen The
Epon Devices converted into Gpon/Epon, they are running on both Epon and Gpon Networks are the same time.

They never changed the Optical Module, in the hardware everything remains the same. they only do it though the Firmware upgrades.

If you could see the attached picture, i have highlighted that both Epon and Gpon modules are being installed on Hg8247H, It means it only needs to be activated to run on Both type of networks.

Dear friends, in order to maintain the stability of the equipment, we do not recommend this kind of modification to the equipment. If there is an abnormal situation, we cannot provide you with effective technical support.
Thank you!
