HG8245H MAC Address Override on WAN

HiCoins as reward: 1 (problem unresolved)

Hello,

Given the following GPON terminal: HG8245H

I have noticed that there is no firmware upgrade available on the site, there is no possibility for "MAC Cloning" or any other options for this in the menu.

However, after extracting and examining the configuration file it contains a directive:

MAC Address Override="1"

Which could be paired with a declaration of

MAC Address="00:00:00:00:00:01"

Although you can clone the OLT serial for authentication this is NOT enough for many providers because they will only give you IP based on your MAC. So I have tried to modify it in the XML I tried the syntax of giving a mac with and without the ::: -s, didn't work.

What is the proper way to override the WAN mac address of the GPON?

Thanks?t_0015.gif

Dear Aionee!

What is the purpose of your doing this, can you not connect to the Internet normally?

If you can connect to the Internet normally, please do not change the MAC address. Otherwise, it will cause you a lot of trouble.

Thank you!

Mac address filtering has nothing to do with what I need whatsoever.
What is the point doing this? Well it has multiple reasons:

1, The ISP is so dumb/cheap that they gave me a GPON with 100mbit ethernet port when I have 300mbit/s fiber service so the router can't even serve the network properly so I bought my own

2, If the modem breaks it could take many days for them replacing it, so I prefer using my own modem instead of the ISP's and only keep theirs in case if my would break (at which I would order a new one immediately and would only use the ISP modem as longs as I need).

So no solution yet...

BTW with some ISPs the mac does not even matter just the ONT serial number what even these modems can clone. Even this ISP my own modem registers it just never gets IP from the DHCP because I guess they only give out IPs for hardcoded mac addresses in their DB.

Dear Aionee!

If you have 300Mbit / s fiber service, please ask your ISP for a device that can support 300M bandwidth.
