Hello everyone,


Recently my provider changed the router from HG8245 to HG8245H. I don't know why, I didn't need the change. All I get with the H version are problems. 

However, I used to register the VoIP line directly to my asterisk PBX by bridging the VoIP vlan to some of the ports but I was able to read the password of the sip line from the HG8245 while in the HG8245H I see only a hash. After I saw this, I asked my provider to give me the password but no one there knows to tell that password. 

My question would be... Is there any way to decrypt this password? I really don't understand why do we need to convert the VoIP line to analog one PSTN (which is done in such routers). So, how to get this password from HG8245H?

Hi friend!

You cannot get this password directly from the HG8245H web page, while the password of the SIP line can only be queried on the OLT.

Therefore, you still need to contact your device provider and let them query it on the OLT side.

I don't understand why is that so. It was very easy to get the password from HG8245 but not possible from HG8245H. CAn You help me understand what is the difference?

This is a product requirement. I think it may be for product network security. Of course, I do not know why you need to obtain the password. However, if you still want to obtain the password, I suggest you find the device provider or Huawei service hotline to provide you with the password, thank you.

Hello. Thanks for reply!

As I said in my first post, I need the password to register the SIP line directly to my home PBX. Without that, all I get is a PSTN line coming out of the router which nonsense for nowadays technology to have analog line. If there is some encryption key used for this, is it possible to get it from huawei? My other options are to change the provider...

You cannot change it because it must mach the one which is set in the SIP server.
