Actually it depends, who has registered the number. If a mobile company registers a number, they'll keep the record.
Other then that, they'll keep record for billing purposes only.
Let me try to explain the call flow a bit, that might help explain the situation:

1. User Dials a number
2. User is connected to nearest BTS
3. call is routed back to station to match route pattern
4 call is routed to next destination

Here first carrier's work is complete.

5. Call lands on the destination network
6. It matches and identifies if it is a UAN. If it is, it will identify where the call was initiated
7. As per callers destination, it will match the route pattern.
8. Call is connected to nearest location in UAN.

However, even in most of the cases of UAN, AVR is played and user has to select the location/function like in case of hospital, they'll be asking to press 1 for state1, press 2 for state2 etc.

In a mobile telephone network you can register non-greographic numbers, these are usually used for companies, for example 0800, 0500, etc. These numbers are registered in a routing table, which allows you to dial the route to the nearest office of the company you are calling. My question is how to list non-geographic numbers and know which company they belong to?
Hi Dave,

I get it. Basically you mean UAN numbers. These numbers are whitelisted and are normally provided by local telecom authority looking over the entire country and all telecom operators. to know which company these number belong to, normally you can refer to yellow pages.
Now, how do they identify which is the nearest location is? That totally depends on the algorithm you chose. For example, they can use the GPS coordinates, or they can register the phone numbers to route to nearest branch from the BTS itself.

Thank you very much for your answer, very successful. However, mobile phone operators do not record that data in any element of the mobile phone network?
