Hello all,
This post describes the hardware differences between Dorado 5000 V3 and Dorado 5000 V6.
Major differences for SAS
1. Scale-out: Dorado 5000 V3 uses PCIe switches and direct-connection networks are not supported. Dorado 5000 V6 uses RoCE (supporting direct connection).
2. Interface module: Four more slots are added to Dorado 5000 V6 and there is no onboard ports. Dorado 5000 V6 does not support FCoE, IB, and 10GE electrical ports.
3. Disk specifications: Dorado 5000 V3 supports 175 disks while Dorado 5000 V6 supports 200 disks.
4. Dorado 5000 V3 integrates the power supplies, fans, and BBUs. Dorado 5000 V6 integrates power modules and BBUs but fans are built in controllers.

Major differences for NVMe
1. Disks in a controller enclosure: Dorado 5000 V6 uses a horizontal backplane design and supports 36 NVMe SSDs while Dorado5000 V3 supports 25 NVMe SSDs.
2. Scale-out: Dorado5000 V3 uses PCIe switches and direct-connection networks are not supported. Dorado 5000 V6 uses RoCE (supporting direct connection).
3. Interface module: Four more slots are added to Dorado 5000 V6 and there is no onboard ports. Dorado 5000 V6 does not support FCoE, IB, and 10GE electrical ports.
4. Disk specifications: Dorado5000 V3 supports 175 disks while Dorado 5000 V6 supports 200 disks.
5. Dorado5000 V3 integrates the power supplies, fans, and BBUs. Dorado 5000 V6 integrates power modules and BBUs but fans are built in controllers.
