Installing an OS on servers, we usually use FusionServer tools, then insert the ISO when it is prompted.

But have you tried installing VMware 6.x using this method? it will install partially but not complete or successful.

to install VMware 6.x, we need to create a custom ISO using the vmware iso file and some drivers from Huawei.

1. .Net framework 4.6.2

2. PowerShell 4.0

3. VMware PowerCLI 6.5.0

4. VMware Software Depot ( ZIP file)

5. Intel i40e driver file (ZIP File)

6. Avago Driver File (ZIP file)

steps to customize ISO

1.    Run PowerCLI

2.    Import these zip files to the software depot using the command below

Add-EsxSoftwareDepot FILE_LOCATION

when command is successfully entered

3.    Check image profiles in VMware Software Depot and take note of the standard profile

4.    Create a clone of the standard profile by using the command below

C:\> New-EsxImageProfile -CloneProfile ESXi-6.5.0-20170702001-standard-Name HuaweiCustomeProfile -Vendor Huawei -AcceptanceLevel PartnerSupported

when command is successfully entered

5.    Add VIB Drivers to the created custom profile

a.     Check your RAID Card model

b.    Check the available VIB drivers

Use the command: e

The list of VIB drivers will be listed. Check if intel i40e and the raid card model is supported

c.    You can also check by using the filter command

      Command: C:\>Get-EsxSoftwarePackage | where{$_.Vendor - eq "Brand"}

d.    Then lastly add the VIB drivers and separate them using commas

Command for adding the VIB Drivers.

6.    Export the custom profile as an  ISO file using the command below

PowerCLI C:\> Export-EsxImageProfile -ImageProfile HuaweiCustomProfile -ExportToIso -FilePath (File directory)

7.    Check your directory to confirm is ISO is successfully exported

Use this ISO file in installing VMware onto the V5 server.

When you have this, youcan directly insert this ISO file and install VMware without using FusionServer Tools.
