We are implementing a guest wireless solution. We currently have a Corporate solution deployed on a pair of AC6005's and are looking to deploy a guest solution using the internal portal.Due to the expected throughput of a guest solution we are migrating this solution to a pair of S6720HI switches with integrated wifi controllers.
Our problems:
Whilst we can configure the Wifi part the Portal has been a right mare. The portalpage.zip was not on the system and I sourced a copy. I have managed to get the redirect to the portal page for authentication which is okay.
The first issue is authentication fails or times out. I have created a local user and the AAA in the profile is set to local. Every time I try to test I get a time out.
The second, minor issue, is as we are using a domain name certificate, there is a certificate warning as the redirect for portal is the loopback IP address. The switch solution does not have the url redirect command so we cannot implement that simple solution. Is our only solution to generate an SSL CSR for IP rather than domain?
Has anyone implemented a Guest Portal solution for the Internal Portal and had these problems?
hello @southside you said that the portalpage.zip was not on the system, does it mean the built-in portal server is used to authenticate the users? But you redirect the the traffic to the portal server for authentication, does this mean a external portal server is used? If it is possible, you are kindly advised to upload a simple topology to explain it more clear.
We did it but with ac6605 and agile controller and 3rd party sms gateway. It's very simple but you have to ensure high availability and strong Core to manage all the traffic.
