What is Green 5G
Earth is facing a climate emergency which, if not tackled immediately, threatens every aspect of life. 5G is being deployed at a time when energy efficiency is a matter of life or death, and it can play a significant role in helping every industry to hit sustainability goals by enabling them to transform their processes and behaviour.This intelligent use of resources can help to reduce energy consumption in many ways, such as: support for smart energy management; reduced requirement for office space and business travel; efficient just-in-time supply chains enabled by predictive analytics; and intelligent automated management of the movement of vehicles carrying people and goods.

1) A Greener Future
ICT industry accounts for 2% of total global carbon emissions. Telecom companies face the challenge of reducing carbon emissions while supporting more digital connections that greatly increase the traffic over broadband networks. In 2025, our project there will be 100 billion connections, including 40 billion devices in the Internet of Things (IoT). More than 50 mobile operators have begun disclosing their emissions through the internationally recognized carbon disclosure project.
2) 5G Save Energy Eliminating Waste
International standard has called for 5G to require much less energy to run than 4G, which means using less power while transmitting more and more data.like, one kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity is needed to download 300 high-definition movies in 4G; with 5G, one kWh can download 5,000 ultra-high-definition movies.
3) 5G Industry Greener
5G energy-reduction potential stems from the changes to processes and behavior enabled by a fast, high-capacity 5G network. All Together with virtualization, edge computing and cloud computing, 5G provides a platform that can help make industries and cities much more energy-efficient.
4) Reducing Water and Food Waste
Today, UN has estimated that about one-third of the food produced globally is wasted, which also wastes the energy and water that went into it. 5G could eventually be used to tag all food where it’s produced, track harvest dates or identify specific animals, and then trace the smart tags as food is transported to the factory. Other sensor systems could monitor conditions in the factory, assessing the food for quality and compliance with regulations.
5) Protecting Nature
The Toxic blue-green algae bloom when water temperatures are warmer than usual.5G drones and sensors over the Sea's to detect blue-green algae growth in real time. While algae are normally monitored by observation from shore, the drones with cameras made it possible to detect algae blooms in more remote areas.
5) 5G and Solar
There are strategies that can and should be employed to lessen the environmental impacts of 5G and make it more sustainable. New base stations in China using solar modules can save 4,310 KWh of power per site each year, cutting 1,125 kilograms of CO2 emissions and a big save of energy. we can help ensure that 5G is deployed quickly and intelligently to accelerate the fight against climate change while making fast and reliable connectivity accessible by everyone.
