The KunLun 9008 mission critical server, developed by Huawei, is a Cache Coherent Non-Uniform Memory Access (CC-NUMA) server. The server is powered by up to 8 Intel® Xeon® E7-48xx or E7-88xx v3/v4 CPUs and 2 4-socket physical partitions, which are connected by Huawei proprietary Hi1503 chips.
The server features high computing performance, large memory capacity, excellent scalability, high reliability, easy management, and elastic deployment. It is suited for mission critical enterprise applications, such as large Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) databases, large HANA in-memory databases, large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Cluster Resource Management (CRM) systems, and High-Performance Computing (HPC) fat nodes.
KunLun 9008 leverage physical partitioning technology to provide a multi-partition feature. With this technology, KunLun server resources can by electrically isolated into multiple partitions. When compared with virtualization-based software partitioning, physical partitioning delivers higher reliability.
The 9008 is a cabinet server. Figure 1 shows a 9008 (without an REE), Figure 2 and Figure 3show 9008 (with an REE). 9008 can also ship without a cabinet and be installed in a non-Huawei cabinet onsite.
The 9008 supports half configuration (four computing modules in slots 1 to 4 and eight memory modules).
