Hello, dear!

The post will share with you FusionSphere memory resource statistics method.

Total memory available to the virtual machine = total memory - I-level memory overhead

I-layer memory overhead = UVP management memory overhead + openstack resource isolation + virtual machine management memory overhead + dirty pages + third-party hardware loss

UVP management memory overhead: Mainly used for UVP service process overhead, specific cost details and calculation formulas. In the first part of the UVP management platform memory cost calculation formula, enter the host memory (GB) to generate UVP management memory overhead.

Openstack resource isolation:

1. In the normal scenario where there are less than 9 virtual machines on the node, you can set the memory to 2560MB and the vCPU to 2. When it is greater than 9 VMs, the recommended configuration is

Memory: physical server memory * 10%, minimum setting is 2560MB

vCPU: physical server hyperthreads * 10% (up even), the minimum setting is 2

2, FusionStorage occupies resources: 8G memory (must be used when the storage is FusionStorage)

3. DPDK occupies resources: 8G memory (must be configured in the OVS+DPDK scenario, no need to be configured in the OVS scenario)

Virtual machine management memory overhead: mainly used to manage virtual machine virtualization devices. For specific cost details and calculation formulas, refer to the VM, memory, disk, network card number, UEFI of the virtual machine management memory cost calculation formula. The amount can generate virtual machine management memory overhead.

1, virtual machine memory loss calculation formula: virtual machine CPU management overhead (3MB) * virtual machine vCPU total + virtual machine memory management overhead (3MB / G) * virtual machine memory total size + virtual machine disk management overhead (25MB / per 15 Disk) * Total number of virtual machine disks + Virtual machine network management overhead (50MB) * OVS NIC virtual machine vNIC total + virtual machine black box overhead (16.5MB) + Virtual machine other peripheral management (20MB). Example: If per server There are 20 virtual machines, each virtual machine (OVS networking) has: 4vCPU, 10G memory, 5 disks, 2 network cards, the virtual machine memory loss is 2.9GB

2, third-party hardware memory loss (such as mellanox network card) in the upper layer solution selection, self-test or plan. For example: using the mellanox network card, the hardware department recommends the following, EVS networking 2 NIC large page memory with 8GB. OVS network 2 network card FSP-agent needs to increase 3GB on the original basis

3, the calculation results are rounded up

That's all, thanks!
