Dear All today we are going to learn about FusiionManager Basics

FusionManager is a unified O&M portal that provides the following

Resources: allows you to manage physical devices, add hypervisors, and manage virtual resources and templates.
Organizations: allows you to manage all VDCs and VPCs in the system.
Monitoring: provides the alarm list, alarm setting, alarm statistics, and performance monitoring.
Tasks: allows you to monitor all the tasks performed in the system.
Reports: provides devices reports, virtualization reports, and network reports.
System: allows you to manage time, licenses, VM backup, and users

Organization Management

Role: used for managing operation rights and determining the operations available to users.
Domain: specifies the domain resources accessible to administrators. Domain-based
management is valid only for administrators.
VDC: specifies the VDC resources accessible to a service management role.
It can be considered as a domain for a service management role.

Differences between a domain and a VDC:
A domain is related to the system administrator, whereas a VDC is related to the service
administrator.
A domain is associated with a cluster, whereas a VDC is associated with a virtual resource.
A system management role can manage multiple domains, and a domain can be managed by
multiple system management roles. A service management role can manage multiple VDCs, and a VDC can be managed by multiple service management roles.

 Security Management

Log security management
Administrators can view logs to ascertain system running status and operation records, thereby auditing user behaviours and locating problems.
An operation log records the operation a user has performed on the system, for example, logging in to the system, logging out of the system, or creating a VM, as well as the result of the operation. The operation logs can help administrators check whether the system is under attacks or malicious operations are performed.

Account and password management
On FusionManager, administrators can change user passwords periodically to ensure password security.
Rights management
FusionManager provides comprehensive rights management functions. User permissions are controlled by organization and domain. This helps isolate the data of different organizations and domains and secure the internal resources of the system.

Web security management
The system supports defense against web application attacks, such as SQL injection and cross-site scripting.
A graphic verification code is required on the login page. On the web-based login page, the system generates a random verification code. A user can log in to the system only when the user name, password, and verification code they entered are correct.
Note: On first login, users are not required to enter the verification code. However, if they enter an incorrect
password, they will be asked to enter the verification code during the next login attempt.
The web management system is automatically locked if no user activity is detected in a present period of time.

Data security management
Basic security settings are implemented to ensure secure operating of databases. The following security-related measures are taken on a PostgreSQL database:
Logs operations performed on the PostgreSQL database.
Prevents remote access to the database.
Backs up data to restore the database in the event of a database failure.

OS security management
The FusionManager system uses a SUSE Linux OS. Basic security settings are configured to protect the security of the SUSE Linux OS, including:
Disables unnecessary services, such as Telnet and FTP services.
Hardens the secure shell (SSH) service.
Controls the access permission on files and directories.
Records operation logs.
Security against malformed packet attacks
Because FusionManager interacts with end users on untrusted networks, it may be vulnerable to malformed packet attacks. FusionManager has been fully tested using tools, such as Codenaming and defend, on its capability of defending against malformed packet floods, ensuring the security of the FusionManager system
during interaction with end users

Unified Resource Management

4

FusionManager pools resources in a unified manner, thereby hiding the specifics of the physical devices and virtualization platform from upper-layer applications.
FusionManager discovers its managed physical devices and networking, and manages the resource pools.
FusionManager improves device resource utilization and deployment flexibility, and reduces O&M costs.
FusionManager flexibly manages new devices using southbound plug-ins.

Hopefully now you have the idea about FusionManager

Regards,

Kashif Ali
