Hello everyone!!!

In a FusionCube platform, with 6 servers in CLUSTER (2 MCNA, 1 SCNA and 3 CNA), I have enabled a host that works as FAILOVER (CNA03). When a host fails (for example CNA01), the virtual machines move to the FAILOVER host, but perform a forced shutdown of it. How can I prevent this event from happening?

Also, after the virtual machine is powered up on the new host, the attached disk, provided by a LUN via IPSAN, appears as not initialized in the operating system (Windows 2019) and has to be initialized manually. Is there a way to ensure that after the virtual machine boots after a shutdown, it does not require the disk to be manually initialized in the operating system? ¿This is a problem of the hypervisor or the Operating System?

NOTE: The disk was configured as a Row Device and as Independent & Persistent.

Thanks for you support!!!

Dear Wily,

You can't prevent this event from happening.

HA is the same principle, which is agreed in the industry.
The non-rebooting of VMs is another feature called FT(Fault Tolerance). FusionCompute does not support this.

For the disk initialization please contact our local TAC hotline: https://e.huawei.com/sg/service-hotline-query

Thank you.

So @little_fish, do you know why the VM is forced restart before to be moved to another host, after the host fails?

Dear, It will restart after the host fail. Can avoid it.

How can I avoid this behavior? Is needed a special configuration or the hypervisor can't avoid to restart the VM? I told you this, because if the VM is forced restart, this behavior could affect the applications than run in the Operating System (in this case is Windows 2019).

Dear, I want to confirm with you whether FusionStorage is used or IP SAN is connected.

dear,According to your description, when a host is powered off unexpectedly, the VM is restarted on another host. In fact, the host configured with HA is powered off unexpectedly ,the VM running on the host was Destroyed, create new one on another host. This is a standard virtual host HA capability and cannot be ignored. This is the root cause of your question.

For the second question, the disk is not initialized.  I think you can get help by remote support.

I wonder why the virtualization of the Cube uses IPSAN instead of the standard distributed storage FusionStorage. Can you deliver a specific cube version? For example, FusionCube 6.0.1.SPC100

Under the same conditions, FusionCube provides more than 10 times higher performance than
the IP SAN. In addition, the performance increases with the number of disks.
