Hello, everyone!
Have a nice day!
The following content is about the U19 license application that the users frequently ask.
Question 1:
Q: Will the license is written into the unified gateway hardware expire?
A: In the sales policies for the U1910 and U1930, a 50-user license is provided for free for the U1910, and a 100-user license is provided for free for the U1930. These licenses are written into the hardware and will not expire.
Question 2:
Q: If both the local regeneration license and active/standby DR license are loaded on the unified gateway, why does only the local regeneration license take effect?
A: The local regeneration license and active/standby DR license cannot be loaded on the same device. The priority of the local regeneration license is higher than of the active/standby DR license. When both licenses are activated, only the local regeneration license takes effect.
Question 3:
Q: Why does the unified gateway keep only one license? For example, when a temporary license expires, the license status is automatically restored to default. If I need to use a commercial license that has been load earlier, I need to load the license again.
A: Only one license can take effect at a time.
Question 4:
Q: If the U1910 and U1911 have different license control items, why can I load a U1911 license on the U1910? If the license can be loaded properly, why does it not take effect?
A: The U1900 series unified gateways use the same license component. All models are considered as the U1900 internally. Therefore, their licenses can be loaded on all models properly. However, the user and local regeneration license control items are different on the U1910 and U1911. If you load a U1911 license on the U1910, those different license control items will not take effect. Only the same license control items will take effect.
Question 5:
Q: Why is the number of users in the default license automatically added by the system is 100 for U1960 and 50 for U1911, instead of the default value 8?
A: The U1960 and U1911 have a typical configuration respectively, for which the user license is added before delivery. The U1960 supports 100 users and the U1900 supports 50 users. The U1960 and U1911 support 8 users when no license is loaded.
Question 6:
Q: On the ESDP platform (Huawei license platform), which U1900 models can share a user license?
A: On the ESDP platform (Huawei license platform), the U1911, U1960, U1980, and U1981 can share a user license and allow users to split and combine user licenses. The U1910 and U1930 cannot share a user license with other models. Additionally, a local regeneration license cannot be shared between different U1900 models.
Question 7:
Q: Can different products (for example, U1911 and U1910) use the same ESN?
A: An ESN must be unique. Therefore, the same ESN cannot be used by different products. The ESN of a U1900 is generated based on hardware information and therefore is unique.
Question 8:
Q: How do I revoke a commercial license that is incorrectly loaded on the unified gateway? How does the license status changes after the license is revoked? Is there a license revocation code?
A: Log in to the unified gateway in CLI mode and run the config disable license command to revoke a license that is incorrectly loaded.
You can reload a correct license to override the license that is incorrectly loaded.
If a commercial license is revoked, the product enters the grace period (or keep-alive period) and can still be used for a period of time (generally 60 days). When the grace period ends, the license status is restored to default.
If a temporary license is revoked, the license status is restored to default.
After a license is revoked, you can run the show disabled license information command to view the license invocation code.
Question 9:
Q: Can I load temporary licenses repeatedly on the unified gateway? When a temporary license expires, will the license status be restored to default?
A: You can load temporary licenses for unlimited times. The serial numbers of the last 10 temporary licenses are recorded in overridden mode. When a temporary license expires, the license status is restored to default.
Question 10:
Q: Does the unified gateway V200R003 support SnS? If SnS is not purchased, can I change the version (for example, upgrade the version)?
A: SnS refers to Software Subscription and Support. It is a new software business mode in which software patches, software versions (including new features in target versions), and software technical support are bound and sold together by year. Huawei requires that all products support SnS. Therefore, the U1900 starts to support SnS since the V200R003 version. If SnS is not purchased, the version cannot be changed.
Question 11:
Q: When configuring the U1911 or U1960 on the configurator, I select the V200R003 version, configure less than 50 or 100 users, and configure DR. The configuration result is the U1911 or U1960 in a typical configuration. The U1911 or U1960 in typical configuration has a license loaded before delivery. This license is generated on the ESDP and is of the V100R001 version. A license of the V100R001 version does not contain the DR license. The delivered software is of the V200R003 version. For the V200R003 version, the DR license cannot be generated on the configurator. As a result, the DR license cannot be obtained. In this case, how do I obtain the DR license?
A: To obtain the DR license, you need to take one user license from the active device and convert the user license into the DR license. In this case, the number of available user licenses is reduced by one on the active device. The procedure is as follows:
On the active device, revoke the license and obtain the license revocation code.
On the ESDP, use the license revocation code to roll the active license back to the Ready state.
Split the active license in Ready state to obtain a user license (which will be used as the DR license of the standby device).
Use the ESN of the standby device to activate the user license.
Upgrade the version of the user license to V200R003. (After the upgrade, the DR license control item is automatically generated in the license file).
Load the license on the standby device.
Question 12:
Q: When configuring the U1911 or U1960 on the configurator, I select the V200R003 version and configure less than 50 or 100 users. The configuration result is the U1911 or U1960 in a typical configuration. The U1911 or U1960 in typical configuration has a license loaded before delivery. However, I cannot find the license on the ESDP based on the contract number. How can I find the license on the ESDP?
A: You can find the corresponding license on the ESDP based on the device ESN.
