Today, I'd like to share a case with you.
Problem Description
For 9800 U32，SLOT101PIU. There are Hard_ERR and NO_ELABEL alarm.
Problem Analysis
for 9800 U32 SLOT101PIU and SLOT103PIU provide power for the SLOT17-SLOT32 service board. SLOT107PIU and SLOT109PIU work as backup boards. As other PIUs work normally, we reset the SLOT101 PIU but the alarm still exists.
Root Cause
After we compare the no_label alarm happen time, we find that we have no alarm when we install the new 9800.
still 2017-04-17, there is a no_label alarm and Hard_err alarm happened 21 times since then.
We collect the SLOT101PIU board database for GTAC to analyze.
The result is: during PIU running, the hardware part has a problem. we must change one new PIU for 9800.
Because for 9800 4 PIU work together for 1 place. it safe to change the PIU board. especially slot17-slot32 don't have so many boards and power isn't high..SLOT103PIU still can support all the related boards.
Solution Description
It is required to replace it before you replace it, please check if there is a pin bent on the rack.
