Fixed-Line Phone Failed to Make an Outer-Office Call Due to the Password Authentication Type Error in the UC2.2 After the eSpace U1960 Is Connected to the ISP Supplier
Symptom
Network: UC2.2 system
Version: U1960 V100R001C20SPC300
The eSpace U1960 and MWEB, an ISP service provider, are connected. The password authentication in the IMS mode is used for connection. After the configuration is made, the IMS connection status is normal. No ringback tone, however, can be heard when a fixed-line phone makes an outer-office call.
Possible Cause
- Failure to register the server of the MWEB
- Network restrictions
- Incorrect authentication mode
The default authentication mode of the eSpace U1960 is not 401. However, the MWEB requires that the authentication mode be 401. An incorrect authentication mode causes the failure to call an outer-office number.
Solution
- On the eSpace U1960, check the status of the registration group. The status of each registered number is success. The first possible cause is ruled out.
- Check whether the issue is
caused by network restrictions.
Configure the IP phone number to be a long number and directly register the long number with the MWEB server through the network. The check result shows that the IP phone bypasses the eSpace U1960. Calls to external numbers can be made normally after a connection is established to the network using the same method. The second possible cause is ruled out.
- Capture logs on the eSpace U1960 and analyze the logs. The analysis result shows that the eSpace U1960 receives the 401 authentication information from the MWEB.
- Query software parameter
437 on the eSpace U1960. The query result shows that, by default, this version
of the eSpace U1960 does not support the 401 authentication.

ID : 437
Type : service
Current Value: --
Desc : Whether support 401 www-auth [0:NO(default) 1:YES]
- After the 401
authentication is enabled, the eSpace U1960 and MWEB are connected successfully
and external numbers can be dialed successfully.
To enable the 401 authentication, set software parameter 437 to 1 by running the config softargu type 437 value 1 command on the eSpace U1960.
