Hi, community!

I want to use tracert to view the  route direction, but * * * is always displayed when passing through the firewall,

As shown in the following:

PC>tracert 10.2.2.20

traceroute to 10.2.2.20, 8 hops max

(ICMP), press Ctrl+C to stop

1 10.1.1.1   13 ms  <1 ms  14 ms

2   *  *  *

3 10.0.23.2 15 ms  <1 ms  12 ms

4 10.2.2.20   16 ms  <1 ms  15 ms

1

How can I see all the tracert output?

Hi Sprout,

By default, for security reasons, an interface is disabled to send ICMP Time Exceeded message,
you need to use the icmp ttl-exceeded send command to enable the function.

In addition, please pay attention to the relevant two commands.
icmp host-unreachable send - this command enables transmitting the ICMP host-unreachable packets;
undo firewall defend tracert enable - if (firewall defend tracert enable)command is configured, an FW discards ICMP timeout packets, UDP timeout packets, or destination port unreachable packets.

So can I use the icmp ttl-exceeded send command on the router/switch so that the tracert can't find the Local Device?
