Features of using mimo:

Diversity gain

enhance link performance - improved snr (signal to noise ratio) and fading and noise protection because the presence of multiple antennas will receive the same signal more than once and from more than one side (multi-path), and therefore this will increase the accuracy of the received signal, as the receiver will choose the best signal from these received signals or collect all the received signals and obtain an amplified and quality signal.

Note: the more antennas, the more lanes, the higher the system reliability

Beamforming

when we compare the signal transmission with the same power and use one antenna and again we use multiple antennas when transmitting, we notice in the case of using multiple antennas:
increasing the coverage range, or the so-called beamforming gain, as the number of antennas in the transmitter increases.

The signal power at the receiver increases dramatically, thus increasing the snr and throughput.
This is very important in systems that use high frequencies such as 5g or wifi, as it is known that in high frequencies the coverage decreases.
decrease the interference and noise, i.e. The sinr (signal to interference ratio) increases because the width of the antenna beam decreases (the greater the number of antennas, the smaller the width of the antenna beam, and therefore the interference and noise decrease.

r

Energy saving

The beam is narrow and future-oriented only.

sidelobes decrease that is, by using beamforming, we increased the coverage and reduced the interference and noise, and the energy was used in an optimal way, and the sidelobes also decreased as the number of antennas increased.

Spatial multiplexing

Increased data transmission rate (throughput) as it sends different data from several antennas in the transmitter and is received from several antennas in the future, thus increasing the data transmission rate of the system.

Note :spatial multiplexing differs from diversity gain in that in spatial multiplexing different signals are sent at the same time from several antennas, while diversity gain is sent the same signal from several antennas.

Thank you.
