Fault Description

Fans on a router run at full speed and create loud noises. The STATUS indicator on the fan module is fast blinking red.

Possible Causes

The fan module is not installed properly in the fan slot.
One or more fans stop running because the blades are blocked.
The fan module is not running the latest software version.
The fan module is faulty.

Troubleshooting Procedure

Reinstall the fan module to make sure that it is securely connected to the backplane, and then fasten the captive screws on the fan module panel.
If there are obstacles blocking fan blades, remove the fan module, clear the fans, and install the fan module in the chassis.
