Hello there community members!
I would like to share some information about the FMU, the important parts of the BTS3900, and the steps for configuring the FMU on the BTS3900.
Fan Monitor Module (FMU) is one of the important pieces of Huawei BTS3900, FMU is very important in the cabinet because it performs very important tasks.
1- Responsible for cooling the RF unit.
2- Responsible for monitoring the gate alarm, smoke alarm and temperature alarm.
3- Sensors (temperature, door, smoke) connected to it.
4- Automatically adjusting the fan speed, as it controls the fan speed according to the temperature of the cards in the chassis.
5-FMUs can report alarms about lost communication, fan failure, abnormal fan speeds.

If FMU unit has problems, the cabinet will be prone to many big problems such as
1- Failure to report cabinet alarms such as Door , temperature , smoke.
2- The RF units temperature will increase dramatically, which will lead to down service.
FMU configuration steps
1- Connect FMU to UPEU the universal power and environment interface unit .
You can plug the FMU into the UPEU in port MON-0 or MON-1,
UPEU is responsible for supplying BBU with power 12V DC , converting -48 V input power into +12 V DC power and then distributing , It also contains two ports to connect external alarms, two ports with one channel of RS485 signals each and two other channels of four channels each of logical signals.

2-Use command ADD FMU to add FMU to configuration, Cabinet No 0 , the subrack number of an FMU must be
set to 11.

Manager port no means which port in upeu that FMU connects to mon-1 or mon-0

do not set the communication adresss to 27 it is used by a new monitoring device XMU you can set 14.

Special boolan alarm flag to all the report of dedicated boolen alarm.

Smart Temperature Control when it is enable the fan speed is adjusted by the FMU according temperature parameters delivered by the BBU.
Smart Temperature Control when it is disable the fan speed is adjusted by the FMU automatically according temperature.

set temperature control mode 0

FMU is shown in green after successfully adding it to the configuration.
thanks,
