Hello, everyone!
This post is related to failing to provide new full copy VMs. Please see the solution below.
Issue diagnostic
Failed to provision a new full copy VMS on ITA. It prompted 'VMS failed to join the domain.'
The following was the scenario and version information:
VDI infrastructure version: FusionAccess 6.5.0;
VDI VMS type: full copy;
VDI VMS OS: Windows 10 (1803);
AD Server: Windows Server 2016 Standard.
Analysis process
1. Updated the password of the VDI account on ITA. After it's been verified, it's right.
2. Analyzed the history log, which failed to provision a new VDI VMS. Then we found one error prompt that was like this:
Then we tried to join one PC in the same AD. However, we got a similar error.
3. After logging in to the AD domain server to check, we found the VDI account was not in the domain admin group.
So we granted the domain an admin role privilege to this VDI account.
After we've verified again, one PC joined the domain successfully.
Root cause
The VDI account was not in the domain admin group, so it can't join other PC in the domain.
Solution
Grant the domain the admin role to this VDI account.
