Problem type | Capacity expansion |
Keyword | Capacity expansion failures |
Problem Symptom
A node is powered off when installing the extension VBS software package for a cluster for capacity expansion. Remove the node from the cluster and continue the capacity expansion. An error is reported, indicating that the capacity expansion fails.
Problem Diagnosis
The reported error indicates that the cluster has been deployed with the VBS service.
Check the installation path. Residual VBS directory /opt/dsware/vbs exist.
Check the /var/log/installtool.log log file. No command output is displayed after running the vbs stop and uninstall scripts, indicating that the VBS service clearing fails to be executed.
Confirm with the test personnel that whether disk flushing has been performed before the clearing.
Causes
The VBS service clearing script is lost after disk flushing. Therefore, such script fails to be invoked when removing the node and residual VBS directories exist during the capacity expansion. As a result, the capacity expansion fails.
Solution
Copy the VBS component package to the /opt/fusionstorage/repository/deploymanager_pkg/micro/ directory.

Run the sh /opt/fusionstorage/deploymanager/clouda/clear_all_for_fsm_node.sh script to clear the DeployManager service.
Retry the capacity expansion.
Check After Recovery
Restore the environment and try the capacity expansion again.
