Failed to Associate a Project with a Region

Hello, everyone!

Do you know how to solve failure to associate a project with a region? Don't worry, the post will share with you.

Symptom

The project cannot be associated with a region. If the VDC quota disassociated with a region and then associated with a region on ManageOne 6.3.1, the project cannot be associated with the region.

VDC quota

Troubleshooting Procedure

1. Log in to the ManageOne operation plane as the first-level VDC administrator, choose VDC > VDC Management, and select the second-level VDC below Level-2 VDCs: 1.

VDC management

2. In the left pane, choose Project to enter the project list of the second-level VDC, select ID on the right to enable the list to be displayed by project ID, and record the project ID.

region

3. Log in to the ManageOne deployment plane as an administrator, choose Deployment > Database > RDBMS, and search for the tenantdbsvr database.

Deployment

4. Use PuTTY and the IP address to log in to the tenantdb database whose role is Master.

Username: dbuser. Password: See the password recorded in the LLD document.

5. Run the following command:

TMOUT=0

6. Run the following command to back up the project_regions:

/opt/mysql/bin/mysqldump  -udbuser -p'Password of the database administrator' --socket=/opt/mysql/data/tenantdbsvr-8-41/tenantdbsvr-8-41.sock  movdcservicedb project_regions >/home/dbuser/project_regions.sql;

Note: Change the value of tenantdbsvr-8-41/tenantdbsvr-8-41 in the socket parameter based on the site requirements.

Database administrator password: *****

7. Run the following command to access the database:

/opt/mysql/bin/mysql  -udbuser -p'Password of the database administrator' -S /opt/mysql/data/tenantdbsvr*/*sock

Database administrator password: *****

8. Run the following command to enter the movdcservicedb database:

use movdcservicedb;

9. Check whether the project is associated with the region in the database based on project_id.

select * from project_regions where project_id='Project ID';

No data is found in the query result indicating that the project is not associated with the region in the database.

Root Cause

After the quota is modified and a new region is added, the created project cannot be automatically associated with the new region.

Solution

1. Perform the workaround manually on ManageOne 6.3.1.

Perform Step 1 through Step 9 in "Troubleshooting Procedure", and then perform the following operations:

a. Run the following command to query the region_id corresponding to the region and record the region_id.

select id region_id from mosilvandb.regions where name='Region name';

b. Run the following command to manually associate the project with the region:

INSERT INTO  `project_regions` VALUES ('project_id','region_id of the region');

2. For ManageOne 6.3.2, if the VDC quota is associated with a new region, modify the project in the project list on ManageOne Operation Portal and associate the project with the new region.

This is my solution, can you share yours?
