Problem Information
Item | Description |
Storage type | Distributed storage |
Product version | FusionStorage 8.0.0; FusionStorage 8.0.1 |
Problem type | Capacity expansion |
Keyword | Storage pool downgrade; data reconstruction; capacity expansion |
Problem Symptom
When a storage pool is in abnormal state and cannot be recovered, the capacity expansion fails.
Problem Diagnosis
Log in to an MDC node and run the following command to view the MDC log and check whether a disk is rejected due to insufficient capacity:
zgrep -a "mdc_check_capacity" /var/log/dsware/plog/mdc/bak/log-dsware_dsware_mdc*<Time point> *.tgz
![]()
Causes
Data is migrated during capacity reduction. If the capacity usage of the storage pool is high and disks need to be rejected, data on the rejected disks will be migrated to other disks and the capacity usage of other disks increases. As a result, the storage pool cannot run properly after data migration.
Solution
Procedure
This method is applicable only in capacity expansion scenarios where a storage pool is downgraded and cannot be recovered by removing disks due to insufficient capacity or data reconstruction failures. In other scenarios, contact Huawei technical support.
Run the dswareTool command to expand the capacity of the storage pool. For details, see Capacity Expansion Using the CLI in the FusionStorage Block Storage Scaling Guide.
