Hello everybody, I want your support, I have 2 links beteween 2 sites, the first is optical fiber and the second MW and I want to protect the fiber (Ethernet service) by the MW in case cut fiber, which type of protection can I use in this case? Knowing that the 2 links use the same RTN in both sites,

It is not easy to answer your qeustions without any detail information, but I try to give the answer as follow:

RTN support three type of protections: STP, ERPS, MPLS APS

STP: it is used by few customer in RTN equipment, No body can confirm there is no problem for this feather in RTN equipment, so it is not advised to use STP.

ERPS: it is widely used in RTN network, but it is advised to use it in single RTN ring network, so it is not recommended to use ERPS together with MSTP if possible.

APS: APS is the most widely used solution for ring network, and the best protection method for your solution, but you need to modify the service to MPLS service.

Above all, MPLS APS is the best solution for your network. strongly recommended.

Hello User: It's depond on what type of equipment and board inused in your network. Option-1: create two services, one through the optical fiber side , and another one through the MW side.then make protection group on client equipment. Option-2:create two site Ring, then create the service which is working route at optical fiber and protection route at MW.(Ring protection or service protection).

I think best solution for protecting SDH working in 2 different media is using SNCP

In SNCP you can configure SNCP cross-connect the working channels on fiber SDH link while the protection in micrwave SDH link , so when cut happens in fiber it will directly move traffic to micrwave .
Your ansewer it's all what I need
