Eth-Trunk sub interface

Hello everyone..why we use Eth-trunk sub interfaces like Eth-trunk100.5 means whats advantage to use this method for interfaces.any alternative method for more interface? Thanks

Hello!
I think that when you create Eth-trunk interface, you combine several physical interfaces into one logical to increase the speed and redundancy. And when you use subinterface, you divide interface to logical interfaces which can route the packets. If you will configure trunk interface - it will be layer 2. But with subinterface you can configure layer 3 interface.

sub interface could provide more access point with the same physical interface, it could help to reduce the request number of the physical interface.

Eth-trunk can be used for load balancing and redundancy purpose.
When you create Eth-trunk and bind interfaces to that Eth-trunk, you can't create sub-interfaces of those interfaces.
For creating sub-interfaces you have to create them on Eth-trunk.
Again,if you create sub-interface of any interface, then you can't bind that interface to any Eth-trunk.
