An IP phone 7950 is having the error 'IP address conflict' on all IP phones.

However, the customer checked the DHCP server and restarted the phones, yet the issue still persists.

Hello heshamk!

This is most likely a network issue - you should verify the DHCP server . You can do the following if they don't want to check the DHCP server at first:

1. Make sure that the phones have the latest firmware.

2. Check the actual IP address of the phones and see if they indeed have the same IP address. It can be done easily: take a phone and check the IP, ping that IP, power off the phone, see if it still responds to ping.

3. Add a computer in the network and check if they also get this conflict.

4. Add more IP's in the DHCP pool.

5. Try with another DHCP server.

Hi there!

There are many possible root causes:

1. The addresses are assigned manually.

2. The IP pool is very small.

3. Lease time is too long.

To avoid the IP address conflict, we suggest you check the following:

1. Verify that no IP Address is assigned manually. If there are, make sure that the IP address is available.

2. At the moment the switch detects a conflict, renew the IP address from the terminal device.

3. Decrease lease time in order to reduce the IP Address conflict incidences:

<HUAWEI> system-view

[HUAWEI] interfave vlanif3000

[HUAWEI-Vlanif3000] dhcp server lease minute Z

4. Configure an IP Address Conflict Detection System, sending X number of ICMP packets with Y timeout to an IP before assigning it:

<HUAWEI> system-view

[HUAWEI] dhcp enable

[HUAWEI] dhcp server ping packet X

[HUAWEI] dhcp server ping timeout Y
