Good day,

A customer asked us if it was possible to add traps on eSight for when a power module fails (if the power module is not ok or working abnormaly ).

I've been messing around with eSight and i know that the platform is collecting the information that i want (network device -> device panel -> View board rated power and i see the information i want: if the power modules are detected and their "state") but i cant seem to find a way to set a trap for when one of this power modules fail.

Anyone has a idea?

All switches are stacked (S5720 series) and they have 2 power modules per stack member.

eSight version is V300R006C00SPC505

Best Regards and thank you for your help.

If a power module error does not affect the power supply of the device, the device may not generate an alarm. Try to customize the alarm. The OID of the invalid power supply is 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.219.2.5.5,

Hi @David_Marques,
According to my understanding, the monitoring alarm is the basic function of the eSight. If the switch has enabled the function of uploading alarms(snmp-agent trap enable), the eSight should be able to receive all the alarms that include the power module fault. If the NMS cannot receive the alarm, you may need to troubleshoot the fault. Please refer to https://support.huawei.com/hedex/hdx.do?docid=EDOC1000128322&id=j_hlp_faq_002&text=How%252520Do%252520I%252520Solve%252520the%252520Problem%252520When%252520eSight%252520Fails%252520to%252520Receive%252520Alarms%252520Reported%252520from%252520Devices%25253F&lang=en

Normally, it should support it by default and you should be able to add trap. But if you can't, add the trap in snmp module of PDU, that if one plug goes down, it will generate an alert.

I thank you both for your aswers, but i still cant find a solution problem in your aswers.
Maybe if i show you my problem you can understand what i want:

S5720-52X-PWR-SI-AC's Device status:
Slot Sub  Type                  Online    Power    Register     Status   Role
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0    -    S5720-52X-PWR-SI  Present   PowerOn  Registered   Normal   Master
PWR1 POWER                 Present   PowerOn  Registered   Normal   NA
PWR2 POWER                 Present   PowerOn  Registered   Normal   NA
1    -    S5720-52X-PWR-SI  Present   PowerOn  Registered   Normal   Standby
PWR1 POWER                 Present   PowerOn  Registered   Normal   NA
PWR2 POWER                 Present   PowerOff Registered   Abnormal NA
2    -    S5720-52X-PWR-SI  Present   PowerOn  Registered   Normal   Slave
PWR1 POWER                 Present   PowerOff Registered   Abnormal NA
PWR2 POWER                 Present   PowerOn  Registered   Normal   NA

I have this stack and, has you can see some PSU are not ok, but the equipments are online because the redundant PSUs are active. What i want is a way to raise a alert on eSight for this modules fail.

Just to make it clear i have the SNMP agent configured on the equipments and i receive traps for both total equipment/stack/interface failures and all other kind of information. I alredy checked all the SNMP traps on que equipment but i cant seem to find one that suits my needs.

Thank you for your time.
