1.1 Upgrading an EP680 Using the PCTool
1.1.1 Preparing for the Upgrade
Step 1 Please download the software of EP680V200R002C00B890 from the official website. And Install the PCTool.

Step 2 Obtaining a Required USB Data Line.
Use the USB data line delivered with your EP680.
Step 3 Checking the Current System Version.On terminal screen choose EP680 Main Menu > Settings > ALL settings > About phone > Product version.
Step 4 Perform the following operations to ensure normal communication between the PCTool and the EP680.
1. Enter #386# on the portable microphone of the EP680 and press the Call key to enter the MAT mode (when the EP680 is in MAT mode, you can check the version of the AP software, version of the CP software, and IMEI).
2. Perform the following settings by rotating the Speaker knob.
Select Usb mode and choose Usb Normal Mode.
Select Ril mode select and choose Real Phone Mode.
Select Uart Setting and choose AP Mode.
3. Always press the Return key to exit the MAT mode.
4. Restart the EP680. Then, the settings take effect.
Step 5 Start the PCTool and login to it. Login method please refer to chapter 2.1.2 step 1~step3.
Step 6 If the EP680 connects to the PCTool for the first time, the PC running the PCTool reports the message "Found New Hardware".PC install the driver automatically. Then enter #680# on the EP680 and press the Call key to enter the PCTool mode. Then, connect the EP680 to the PC running the PCTool using a USB data line.
1. When Connected is displayed on the EP680, the EP680 is successfully connected to the PCTool, and you can perform read/write operations
2. To ensure communication success in the scenario in which you perform read/write operations on an EP680 using the PCTool, follow this sequence: (1) Start the PCTool on a PC; (2) enter #680# on the EP680 and press the Call key to enter the PCTool mode; and (3) connect the EP680 to the PC using a USB data line
If in step 6 terminal show “connected” , It means the connection is successful. Then skip step 7
Step 7 If PCTool fails to connect to an EP680, In bottom right corner of PC screen display “Installing device driver software” dor a long time, or display “Device driver software eas not successfully installed”, please continue the following steps

1. Open Device Manager, In Other devices you can find EP680 phone with excalmatory mark. Right click EP680 phone and choose “Update Driver software”

2. Choose “Browse my computer for driver software”.

3. Choose “Browse” in new window, select driver software location:
C:\Program Files\Terminal\Android Composite ADB Interface
Choose “Next”

4. Select “Install this driver software anyway”in new window.

5. ADB interface driver software is installed successfully。Please close the new window.

6. ADB interface is displayed in Device Manager.

1.1.2 Performing the Upgrade
Step 1 Start the PCTool on the PC.
The following dialog box is displayed.

Step 2 Specify Username ( default value: admin888 ) and Password (default value: admin888), and click Login.
The “Select Config SPEC Version” dialog box is displayed.

Step 3 Select EP680R2B from the drop-down list and click OK.
The PCTool management window is displayed.

Step 4 Enter #680# on the EP680 and press the Call key to enter the PCTool mode. Then, connect the EP680 to the PC using a USB data line.
If the connection is successful, Connected is displayed on the screen of the EP680.
Step 5 Choose Advanced->Upgrade The System from the PCTool main menu, or press Ctrl+U to display the dialog box in which you select an upgrade package.

Step 6 Select the required ZIP upgrade package and click Open to start delivering the package to the EP680.

Package delivering takes about two minutes. After receiving the package. The EP680 automatically restarts and enters the recovery mode to perform an upgrade, which takes three to five minutes. Do not perform any operation during this period.
If any exception occurs or the connection between the EP680 and PCTool is interrupted during the process from when the PCTool delivers the upgrade package to when the upgrade is complete, perform the following operations:
1. Disconnect the USB data line from the EP680.
2. Enter #680# on the EP680 and press the Call key.
3. Connect the USB data line to the EP680.
After you perform the preceding operations, the PCTool automatically attempts to communicate with the EP680. After communicating with the EP680, the PCTool checks whether any read/write operations are performed and continues the operations if any.
Step 7 Wait for the EP680 to automatically restart after the upgrade is complete.
1.1.3 Verifying the Upgrade
Choose EP680 Main Menu > Settings >All Settings > About phone > Product version to check whether the version of the EP680 is the target version. The expected product version is EP680 V200R002C00B890. If the version of the EP680 is not V200R002C00B890, the upgrade fails. In this case, contact the technical support personnel.
