I would like to share some information about EMU the important parts of the BTS3900,and steps for configuring the EMU, and how to set alarms on it.
the Environment Monitoring Unit (EMU) One of the important pieces in Huawei BTS3900 the EMU is of great importance on the site as it performs very important tasks.
1- monitor environmental conditions of the equipment room.
2-EMU connects to main equipment and performs monitoring functions through the alarm cables.
if this piece has problems, all site will be prone to many big problems such as
1- Failure to report site alarms.
2- The site is vulnerable to stole.
3- Failure to report a power outage.
4- The site is prone to unreported high temperatures.
5-Failure to report problems with the power cabinent such as rectifier fault ,missing batteries,AC SPD fault,
fans stalled,smoke alarm,DC SPD fault,AC over voltage,DC under voltage,Door alarm,AC phase failure,Battery fuse
alarm,water alarm,battery high temperature,rectifier missing
EMU configuration steps and how to add AC failure alarm1- connect EMU to UPEU.
1- Connect EMU to UPEU the universal power and environment interface unit .
You can plug the EMU into the UPEU in port MON-0 or MON-1,
UPEU is responsible for supplying BBU with power 12V DC , converting -48 V input power into +12 V DC power and then distributing , It also contains two ports to connect external alarms, two ports with one channel of RS485 signals each and two other channels of four channels each of logical signals.
2-use command ADD EMU to add emu to configuration.
manager port no means which port in upeu that emu connects to mon-1 or mon-0
3- use command SET ALMPORT to set an envioment signal port and configure alarm in node.
cabinet =0 ,subrack no = 40 ,slot no = 0 ,port no = 14 means slot 14 in emu that you want to open.
4-use command ENVALMARA to set the name and type and sevirty of envioment alarm,
in this step you set alarm id and alarm name and sevirty of alarm
If you loop on the port you configured in the node, the alarm will be cleared and if the loop is open the alarm will appear
This table contains the alarms ID, description and emu ports
