eNSP WDS: AP are lightweight or Autonomous?

Latest reply: Feb 11, 2014 18:04:24 2852 9 0 0 0

In order to configure WDS and put AP in Bridge mode, is it supposed to be autonomous or lightweight (AC controlled)?

In configuration guides appears to be lightweight, so it must be connected by ethernet to the network. But if it is a remote Bridge, how can download its configuration?

Any example guide for eNSP?

Thanks.

Hi, thanks for your answer.

I am testing your example but it works in a very unpredictable way.

Some issues:

- For the wireless link it was used 2.4GHz interface. Isn´t it supported with 5GHz?

- Coverage Areas from APs are turned on and off over and over again without intervention.

- Sometimes AP1 has coverage area turned on but AP2 is off and viceversa.

- STAs sometimes see SSIDs, sometimes don´t.

- Isn´t it supported tunnel mode in this scenario?

I hope you could give some details about or fix the problem if it is software bug, but at this moment it is totally unpredictable and impossible to understand or teach about.

I attached some screenshots.

Thanks.

- For the wireless link it was used 2.4GHz interface. Isn´t it supported with 5GHz?

answer: it supported 5G. the ap1 and ap2 should both set the WDS config on the 5G radio, then it will work on 5G.

- Sometimes AP1 has coverage area turned on but AP2 is off and viceversa.

answer: How the WDS works :

(1)the ap1 should link to AC first, then AC will control ap1 and send the ap1's config to ap1.

then ap1 will set up WDS vap and then ap1 will send beacon.

(2)when the ap2 received the beacon signal, it will connect to ap1,it will take some times.

- Sometimes AP1 has coverage area turned on but AP2 is off and viceversa.

answer: if ap was not link to AC , it will try WDS or MESH mode , so it will  switch from one mode to another. if it work on MESH mode , the will not link on root ap . so you can wait a moment let it switching WDS mode.

- STAs sometimes see SSIDs, sometimes don´t.

answer: i will check this problem.

- Isn´t it supported tunnel mode in this scenario?

answer: it is support tunnel mode in WDS mode .

Yeah, I ´ve been testing it and works great.

One last question, Lineate-port feature is supported?

I tested but when AP is reloaded, it doesn´t set up the wireless link.

Thanks.
