Hello Community Members,
In Mobile Communication, Encryption is extremely important for the protection of subscriber’s information. Different types of security algorithms are used for the provision of authentication, cipher key generation, integrity and radio link privacy to the subscribers on mobile networks.

When we talk about the Encryption in cellular communications, it’s simply mean a way by which the conversations on cellular network are scrambled so that communication is kept secured and cannot descrambled and intercepted by the hacker.

In GSM system, the privacy and security can be provided in different methods. Data can be encrypt in two ways: Block Cipher and Stream Cipher, both are two main categories of symmetric encryption algorithms which uses same key to encrypt and decrypt data.
Below is the comparison summary of both Block and Stream Cipher methods:

The above table shows some key differences of both Block and Stream Cipher methods, however, there are still some differences. I would like you guys to write in comments your input about these two methods.
Thank you for reading, feel free to comments or chat with me.

Faisal (faysalji)
