Hello,


We purchased a SmartAX EA5801-GP08 to evaluate implementation in our network.


According to this Knowledge Base article we bought EG8010H ONT units.

We have configured and registered these ONTs, but receive "The ONT is incompatible with the OLT".

Does anyone know what's going wrong here?

You can run the display ont customized-info command to check whether the ONT is a customized product.

 

If the ONT is a customized product, it may be incompatible with the EA5801. 


Alternatively, you can refer to the following link to register the ONT configuration:

You can determine the fault point according to the judgment criteria and then troubleshoot the fault.

Possible Cause


Optical fiber connectors of different types are connected.

NOTE:

If different types of optical fiber connectors are connected, the attenuation and reflection will be excessively large.

Judgment Criterion


Optical fiber connectors of different types are connected if one of the following situations occurs:

  • The attenuation (calculated using the optical power on both sides of the optical fiber connector tested by the optical power meter) of the optical fiber connector is larger than the theoretical attenuation. For details about how to check the optical power, see Checking the Optical Power.

  • Points with abnormal return loss exist on the backbone fiber and branch fiber as tested by the OTDR. For details about how to use the OTDR, see Using the OTDR to Locate Abnormal Attenuation Points on the Optical Line.

  • The PC connector (blue) is connected to the APC connector (green) onsite.


Troubleshooting Method

Replace the incompatible connector with a compatible one or replace relevant devices.

NOTE:

In the CATV service scenario, it is recommended that you use APC connectors (green) only.

Thank you for your replies.

I could not run the display ont customized-info command, becaue the ONT is offline because it is incompatible. Before I could successfully register it though.

Maybe the ONT needs a firmware upgrade?


ONT EG8010H is  now on V3R017C00S100

OLT EA5801-GP08 is now on EA5801V100R019C00


Can someone provide a link for newer ONT firmeware? Huawei site tells me there is no software available.

Huawei ONT needs to be used with OLT and network management. The version must match the model. If the wrong version is used, ONT will not work.


If you need to download firmware/software, please contact the operator or sales channel to obtain the correct ONT firmware/software.
