MM910 Management Module Command Reference

Overview

The MM910 is the management module of the E9000 server system (E9000 for short). The MM910 manages all the hardware devices of the E9000, such as the chassis, MM910s, compute nodes, switch modules, power supply units (PSUs), and fans.

The MM910 provides a command-line interface (CLI), which enables you to access the MM910 over the serial port or Secure Shell (SSH) to query, configure, manage, and maintain all the hardware devices of the E9000.

This document describes the CLI of the MM910.

The MM910 supports two types of commands: query commands and set commands.

The syntax of the two types of commands is as follows:

  • Query command: smmget

    Syntax: smmget [-h] [-l location] [-t target] -d dataitem

  • Set command: smmset

    Syntax: smmset [-h] [-l location] [-t target] -d dataitem -v value

The parameters of commands smmget and smmset are described as follows:

  • --h: obtains help information about a command. If you use this parameter, it cannot be followed by any other parameter.
  • -l location: specifies the target component that the command is executed for. If the parameter is not specified, the command is executed on the currently-connected MM910. The values of locationvary according to components. For details, see Table 1.
  • -t target: specifies a part on the component to be queried or set. The parts include sensors, indicators, and network ports.
  • -d dataitem: specifies the attributes of a part or component to be queried or set.
  • -v value: sets a value.

Table 1  location value description

The MM910 CLI provides help information for query commands and set commands.

To obtain the help information about the query commands smmget, run the smmget -h command. Then the help information is displayed as follows:

To obtain the help information about the set commands smmset, run the smmset -h command. Then the following help information is displayed as follows:

The MM910 has three types of users: administrators, operators, and common users, and they are granted different operation rights.

The operation rights of each type of user are described as follows:
  • Administrators: have permission to query and set information.
  • Operators: have the permission to query and set information but no permission to upgrade firmware, manage users, or enable and disable password complexity checking. To be specific, they cannot run the following commands: firmwareupdate, useradd, userdel, userpasswd, userpropertychg, or userpasswdcomplex.
  • Common users: have the permission to query information. To be specific, they can run only the smmget command.

Go to the CLI (the following uses PuTTY as an example).

Logging In to the CLI over a Serial Port

Use a serial port to access the MM910 in the following scenarios:

  • If the E9000 is configured for the first time at a new site, you can log in to the MM910 from a local PC over a serial port to perform configuration.
  • If the network is faulty and the MM910 cannot be remotely connected, you can log in to the MM910 over a serial port to locate the fault.

Procedure

Logging In to the CLI over SSH

Log in to a server through a local area network (LAN) over SSH to configure and maintain the server.

Procedure

The commands supported by the MM910 are classified by objects: universal commands, chassis commands, MM910 commands, compute node commands, switch module commands, power supply unit (PSU) and fan commands, field replaceable unit (FRU) information commands, indicator commands, and sensor commands.

For details, see E9000 MM910 Management Module Command Reference.

iMana Command Reference

Overview

The iMana supports the following two types of commands:

  • Query command: ipmcget

The syntax of ipmcget is as follows:

    ipmcget [-t target] -d dataitem

  • Set command: ipmcset

The syntax of ipmcset is as follows:

    ipmcset [-t target] -d dataitem -v value

The parameters of commands ipmcget and ipmcget are described as follows:

  • [ ]: indicates that the information included is optional for commands.

  • -t target: queries or sets a target on the operated device. The target can be a sensor or an indicator.

  • -d dataitem: queries or sets the specific properties of the operated device or of a component on the operated device.

  • -v value: queries or sets the parameter values for components on the operated device.

The iMana command-line interface (CLI) provides the help function. When entering a command, the CLI automatically displays the command parameters and syntax after you enter only certain characters and press Enter.

For example:

Query command:

Set command:

  • A maximum of five users can log in to the iMana CLI simultaneously over Secure Shell (SSH) or Telnet.
  • Before logging in to the iMana CLI through the serial port, you must connect the configuration terminal serial port to the server serial port by using a serial cable.
  • Before logging in to the iMana CLI through the network port, you must connect the configuration terminal network port to the server management network port by using a network cable, and ensure that the IP addresses of the configuration terminal network port and server management network port are in the same network segment.

Login Methods

  • The default user name of the iMana CLI is root, and the default password is Huawei12#$.
  • The system locks a user if the user fails to enter a correct password for consecutive five times. The user is automatically unlocked five minutes later.
  • To ensure system security, change the initial password after the first login, and then change your password periodically.

ISM Command Reference

Installing the ISM

Overview

Add opt/huawei/bin/ or ./ in all commands that are run in the root directory.

The hwdiag command is used to diagnose faults in the hardware (such as the dual in-line memory module (DIMM) and storage components) and query hardware information.

The functions of the syscfg command are as follows:
  • Query basic hardware information.
  • Configure basic hardware information.
  • Upgrade the basic input/output system (BIOS).
  • Write BIOS configuration information.
  • Query BIOS configuration information.

The hwkbox command is used to write data to or read data from the black box.

For details, see E9000 ISM V100R001C02 Command Reference.
