this post about signal flow in DWDM...
- The DWDM system can consists of many parts The most important parts is:
1- transponder
2- optical mux and demux
3- Variable optical attenuator
4- Dispersion compensation module
5- Add drop multiplexer
6- Optical amplifier
7- Supervision board
8- Fiber interface board
- The signal comes from client side, Comes in colorless form.
- Client menly be router or other device.
- Signal may be in 1310 nanometer band.
- Enter the transponder from Rx Port.
- Then conversation to colored c band performed inside the transponder
And ODU , OTU overhead added.
- Then send the signal from output port to the input of the multiplexer.
- Then multiplexing all wavelengths which can be 40 together and transmit them out of the mux output port.
- Then the variable Optical attenuator.
- Then amplification stage.
- Then Dispersion compensation stage.
- Then multiplexing the traffic with supervisory channel.
- Then out the signal to line side.
