HI,

The ONU Management and Control Interface is a configuration transport channel defined in the GPON standard that transmits OMCI messages by establishing proprietary ATM PVC or GEM PORT between OLT and ONT to provide standard acquisition ONU capabilities and methods for managing and controlling them. All ONT configurations are controlled by OLT, but when there is a warning or property change, ONT actively reports the message. ONT can only actively report three kinds of messages: Alarm, AVC and Test Result.

ONT established the OMCI Channel when registering with OLT. OMCI is a master-slave management Protocol. OLT is the main device, while ONT is from the device. OLT through the OMCI channel control OLT under the connection of multiple ONT devices. OLT and ONT OMCI message interaction use a stop mechanism. After the OLT received the correct reply message, the next message configuration will be issued. A single OMCI message timeout time 1s.
